Restoration of Truth
It is never a child's responsibility to convince the adults entrusted with their care to uphold structure.
Scripture
"God is not a God of confusion but of peace." — 1 Corinthians 14:33
Psalm 8 reminds us of humanity's God-given dignity and the delegated responsibility entrusted to us by our Creator.
Reflection
Distortion rarely begins with obvious lies. More often, it begins when responsibility is removed from the person to whom it belongs and placed upon someone who was never meant to carry it.
Sometimes that burden is placed on a spouse, an employee, a congregation, a community, or an entire generation.
Sometimes it falls on a defenseless child. Children were never designed to become advocates for their own stability. They should not have to negotiate for consistency, plead for boundaries, or carry the burden of proving that the adults entrusted with their care should simply do what they have already been ordered to do.
The faces and circumstances may change. The pattern does not.
God's design has always been one of truth, order, and faithful stewardship. Each person is entrusted with responsibilities that belong to them alone. When those responsibilities are neglected by systems, abandoned by those responsible, or shifted onto another, confusion follows. The innocent begin carrying burdens they were never created to bear.
This journal exists to recognize those moments—not to condemn people, but to expose distortion.
Grace and kindness must always lead.
But grace is not the absence of courage, and kindness is not the surrender of truth.
Sometimes grace and kindness require us to stand before distortion and refuse to call it truth. Not because we seek to win an argument, but because the vulnerable deserve protection, and truth is one of God's greatest gifts to them.
The answer is not bitterness.
The answer is truth.
And truth always leads us back to God.
He alone defines reality. When we return responsibility to its rightful owners, we are not merely correcting a circumstance—we are honoring the order God established from the beginning.
Every page in this journal is an invitation to do that very thing.
To recognize distortion.
To seek truth.
And to return both our hearts and our understanding to the One who is Truth Himself.
Returning to Truth
Distortion asks the vulnerable to carry what was never theirs.
Truth returns every burden to its rightful owner.
When we seek God's wisdom, we learn to discern the difference. He gives us the courage to face what we fear with grace, conviction, and love. If we refuse to confront distortion, we do not remove its weight—we simply leave it for those who come after us to carry.
Returning to truth is returning to God, trusting Him to lead us as we faithfully uphold what is ours and release what never was.
Questions to Consider
Where do I see responsibility misplaced in my own life?
Am I asking someone else to carry what belongs to me?
Am I carrying a burden that belongs to someone else?
How might God's truth restore order where confusion has taken root?
Prayer
Father,
You are not the author of confusion. You are the God of truth, order, justice, mercy, and peace. Teach me to recognize distortion without becoming consumed by it. Give me the humility to own what You have entrusted to me and the wisdom to release what You never intended me to carry. Let grace lead my words, truth guide my steps, and love govern my heart. Where responsibility has been misplaced, restore it. Where truth has been obscured, reveal it. Where confusion has taken root, establish Your peace. Above all, keep turning my eyes back to You, for You alone are Truth.
Amen.
